A Typical Day in the Work Week: MOAR HOURZ IN DAY PLZ

Like a vast majority of the book bloggers out there, I have a whole full-time-job life outside of blogging. I thought I’d share what said life is like during the week days when I’m working. And also why I always feel like I literally have time for nothing else.

Rise and shine! Drink coffee and speed surf through my social media sites, ensuring I respond to as many of the comments that I can, and post something on bookstagram. Then, get my tired-ass up and head to the gym.

Back at home from the gym.  Eat breakfast and either read whatever book I’m currently reading (so that I can post a review soon, of course) or read fellow bloggers new posts or go back to what I left off on before heading to the gym.

Get ready for work. While getting ready, listen to audiobook (so, of course, I can get it done and review it soon).

7:30AM – 6:30PM

Drive to work (listen to audiobook on the way). Work, work, work, work. Drive home (listen to audiobook).

Eat dinner then a) surf fellow blogger sites and/or blog-related social media, or b) read current book (especially if I’m feeling like I’m behind on reading), or c) write a blog post.

GO TO BED because I’m tired AF. Read for 10 minutes and then promptly fall fast asleep.

And there you have it. My very exciting work week life. You can perhaps see why I live for my weekends? Or why I say that book blogging will eat up ALL OF YOUR FREE TIME?!

What’s your week like? Are you a blogger and full time something as well? Let’s commiserate!

  1. Omg, just reading this makes me want to cry. WHYYY? Or better yet, HOW do you get up at 4 to go to the gym? I can’t imagine ever convincing myself to do that. And such a long work day! Do you have a long commute? But seriously, I’m majorly impressed that you can do this every day.

    1. Okay. I suggest giving up the exercise. Wastes too much energy and time you could be sleeping. Don’t actually READ the books; you get a good idea of the content by the picture on the cover and the synopsis. Work…well you do work with cute fuzzy things, but maybe you should play lottery, win and be able to do it PT. Easy!

    2. My commute isn’t too bad! It’s about 20 minutes. Hahaha, well luckily I only work four days a week, so I cram a lot of relaxing into the weekend 😀

  2. I’m amazed at how you manage to be a full time vet, take such gorgeous book photos, and still run a brilliant blog! It’s insane. I struggle so much with time management at the moment (though admittedly I have study and assignments in addition to similar work hours for rotations at the moment). I wish I was as good at utilising time as you are!

Also HOW DO YOU GET UP SO EARLY WITH THE MOTIVATION TO EXERCISE??? I just can’t do that no matter how hard I try haha.

    1. I’m a time management fiend. If I wasn’t, I don’t think I’d ever get anything done XD. Luckily once you’re working as a vet and not in school anymore, you don’t have homework! So once you come home for the day you actually get to do whatever you want! It’s amazing, haha.

  3. Hahaha, I had flashbacks to general practice reading this, even without you clarify what fills the “work work work” part ;D Except I am NOT a morning person, and am a perpetual night owl… I went to gym for 6, but woke up at like 545 ;D (and stayed up often until midnight…)
My commute was like 5 minutes to the clinic, though… I used to sometimes wish I had a longer commute for audio book listening! (but then when my day ended 4 hours later than it was supposed to and I just wanted to *be home* I was glad for closeness 😉 )

“What’s your week like?” is so hard for me to answer… My typical shift is 8pm-8am, and every week my nights on/off change! (every 3rd week is the same…). I don’t currently blog, but I missed it, and planned to return once I got into a groove with the new job (started emerg & critical care full time oct 2016)… but then we decided now was a good time to try to sell our house and that has becoming ALL CONSUMING… so. yeah. I am basically just an adult full time now, turning to social media for escape at every opportunity 😉

    1. Oh my gosh I don’t know how you deal with having a different schedule every week. Even when my schedule gets shifted for just ONE week, I feel so “off” and like I can’t function like a normal person! I bet your house selling foray has become very all consuming! Good luck with that – I hope things settle down for you sometime in the near future!

    1. Hahaha, it’s what I’m used to! Sometimes I have to slow down a bit, though (: Let me brain (and sleep) catch up!

  4. Ugh to 11 hour shifts. I just left my job where I was scheduled for 7 hours and usually worked 8 at least but saw at least 40-60 clients a day. I’m brain dead after 5 years of that. 😹 I’m taking a few weeks just to hang out and relax.
