If you follow my blog you may notice that on occasion I will choose to describe a book in three words. This stems from my most favorite bookish thing ever: Blind Date with a Book.
Once monthly, there’s an event in town called “Blind Date with a Book.” It’s a fundraiser for the city library. What it entails: A pile of brown-paper-wrapped books (overflow/duplicates from the library) that have a sticker on the front. The sticker describes the books in a few descriptive (yet vague) words. You choose which books you want to buy for a very low cost ($10 for 3-4 I think?). And then it’s like Christmas when you open them! For me, though, the best part is walking around and trying to guess what each book is.
So I thought it’d be fun to bring that to the blog!
Here are a couple easier examples:
Book 1 Clues: Fantasy, orphan, new school, magical adventure and unexpected villain
…..okay have you thought about it?….
Answer: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Here’s another:
Book 2 Clues: Dystopian, gripping young adult, separate districts, and violence
Answer: The Hunger Games
Okay so do you get it? Now I’ll post the real one. Go ahead and take your guesses in the comment section below. I’ll give you guys 24-36 hours before I comment back and let you know if you’re right. If this is somewhat popular, I’ll continue to do this weekly. But for now, let’s just see how you do with this one:
Alright! Now leave your guesses, comments, complaints, love notes, and more in the comment section below!
A. S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger (at “the bandar blog”) to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available now wherever books are sold.

I loved doing it at the Blind Date with a Book Event – I figured other book nerds would have fun doing it, too (:

It’s Ready Player One! A FANTASTIC young adult, sci-fi novel that takes place in a dystopian future where everyone lives their lives in a virtual reality. The book is so awesome. One of my favorites (: I’ll be doing two more books tomorrow, so swing by and check it out!

I had no idea what the book was (If the other commenters are right, I’ve never read it)…but this is such a fun idea! I totally think you should continue to do it. And maybe I’ll know the book next time 🙂
Ali (@thebandarblog)
I think I am going to continue doing it! Mostly because it’s so fun for me to come up with them ? I think I will do two each time to increase the chances of someone knowing one!

I loved Ready Player One! One of the best dystopian YA ever written. I love this game, what an awesome scheme your library had and so cheap too! I would love to see bookshops doing this too with some of their titles. Thanks for sharing Ali, looking forward to the next one <3
Ali (@thebandarblog)
Thanks! The next one is up just this morning so when you have the chance you should take a look 😀 And yes – Ready Player One was just the best!

Love the idea of this feature! Shame I’m useless at guessing (in fairness, if it was ready player one, I haven’t read it yet) But I’m looking forward to checking this out more in the future!! 😀

Blind Date with a Book sounds amazing! I do so wish I lived somewhere as cool as your city. Meh, but I live all the way here in Sri Lanka where nothing exciting happens. Anyway, I love the idea of this game, and look forward to trying my luck in the future 😀
