A very happy Saturday to all of you! Let’s have a light-hearted chat about what we’re all reading to start off our very exciting weekend, don’t you think?
What I just finished reading:
Ā
I just recently finishing listening to the audiobook ofĀ Blood for Blood. I absolutely loved this duology (see review for the first one here!). Review for this one will be out soon. I also just finished readingĀ A Strange CompanionĀ from my June Once Upon a Book Club box!
What I’m Reading Now:Ā
Ā Ā
I’m almost done listening to the audiobook ofĀ The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Can you believe I’ve never read this book!? I’m trying to read one classic a month, so this one definitely checks that box! Since my husband and I are actually traveling today, we’re listening toĀ Cannery Row on audiobook (aren’t we just the cutest?), since neither of us have ever read it. My physical current read isĀ The Crowns of Croswald, which I am loving way more than I expected to!
What I’m Reading Next:Ā
Ā
I’m definitely reading the ARC ofĀ Retribution Rails, a stand-alone sequel toĀ Vengeance RoadĀ (see my review here!) next. My next audiobook will beĀ The Girl with All the Gifts. I wanted a zombie book, and this one came highly recommended by numerous bloggers (including my friend Carlisa!)
So what are you guys reading this weekend? Anything good?
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

I listened to the audio for The Girl With All The Gifts a few weeks back, and it was so intense. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll be finishing up Song of the Current today and maybe Checkmate: This is Dangerous as well. I love the idea of reading a classic every month. I might try to do that soon.

I am enjoying it so far! I love the audiobook for it. I have quite enjoyed my little classics tradition so far. I’m going to try to keep it up! You should definitely try š And one a month is pretty doable (esp if you listen to audiobooks in addition to reading physical copies!)

Ooh Huck Finn. I’ve never read it although I did read Tom Sawyer ages ago. And The Crowns of Croswald sounds really good- love that cover.
I guess the Girl With All The Gifts is supposed to be good too, haven’t read it yet though.

Wolf by Wolf duology is so good. The ending of Blood for Blood was heartbreaking.
Hmm, I DNF’d The Girl With All the Gifts. š

It really was heartbreaking! Ugh, but it had to happen I think.
Why did you DNF it?! :O

I totally love the Wolf by Wolf duology as well. I’ve mentioned it before, but the only thing that really bothered me with those books was the inaccurate use of the German language. I’ve ranted about that SO much in my reviews, because it’s just ridiculous.
Ali
Hahaha- I’ve heard that complaint from many who speak German! Lucky for me, I don’t, so I quite enjoyed its usage!! XD
