Ahhhhhh, the pesky TBR (that’s the to-be-read list for those of you who may not know). It sits in the back of our minds (aka on our Goodreads page) looming over us, casting us in its menacing shadow, threatening to topple over and smother us with the books with have promised ourselves we’ll read. Basically it’s the best and worst thing ever. So here are some of the books that have been on my TBR the longest.
1. Dune by Frank Herbert
My husband has threatened divorce if I don’t read this one soon.
2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
UGH. I know I need to read this series already.
3. Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier
I adored Marillier’s Daughter of the Forest, so I have been meaning to read another one of her books. This one has come highly recommended!
4. The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle
I love reading children’s classics, and especially the ones that have inspired such iconic movies. This has been on my TBR ever since I knew it existed!
5. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
YEAH I HAVEN’T READ THIS OKAY? Leave me alone, it’s on my never-ending TBR.
6. World War Z by Max Brooks
I love horror novels, so this is a zombie classic I need read before October of this year!
7. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
There are a lot of Rainbow Rowell novels that have rave reviews, but this one in particular has always appealed to me.
8. The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham
This book sounds weird AF and is definitely considered a sci-fi classic. It’s been on my TBR for a long while now!
9. Warcross by Marie Lu
This one hasn’t been out long, but I REALLY want to read it. It seems like it’s going to be like Ready Player One, which I loved, so… obvi this has to be on the TBR.
10. Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat
This is basically a fantasy romance novel (and romance novels really aren’t my thing), but man so many bloggers RAVE about this series I’ve kept it tucked away on my TBR for when I’m reading for this genre again.
What are some books you’ve been meaning to read by haven’t gotten to yet?

A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

I don’t think Fangirl is perfect, but I enjoyed it so much! Cath was someone I could really relate to, but the whole Simon and Baz inserts annoyed me so much. I am still surprised I picked up Carry On afterwards, but I am glad I did because I loved that one too.

I’ve only read one of Rowell’s books, so I really want to read some of her others and see what they’re about!

I’m still curious about Warcross too. I hope my library will get it soon.
Fangirl wasn’t really up my alley even though that was the book that appealed to me the most from her books. I have since realized that Rainbow Rowell is just not for me. 🙂 I hope you will like it better though.

At least you know she isn’t for you! Then you don’t make the same mistake of picking up her books only to not enjoy them.

Nice list of books. I really want to read Warcross soon, it sounds so cool and I also loved Ready Player One. I enjoyed reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell 🙂 I still want to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh <3
Ali
I’ve heard great things about Flame in the Mist, but haven’t read it myself. Frankenstein is a great classic!

UGH I know!! I think you and one other person has recommended it, so it’s high on my TBR! It’s actually on my Goodreads TBR, which is about the most official thing there is (I only have 6 or 7 books on there, because those books i WILL read)
