If you’ve been hanging around this blog for a while, it’ll be no surprise to you that love stories are my bread and butter (hell, I even wrote a love story!). I’ve decided to compile a list of my all-time favorite love stories so that you can read them and swoon right along with me.
1. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
HANDS DOWN my all-time favorite. I will recommend this book to everyone until the day I die. It is everything I love: slow burn, heart-breaking, and forbidden.
2. The Song of Achilles by Madelline Miller
Okay this is a VERY CLOSE all-time favorite. This one is UGH ALL THE HEART BREAK. I loved it.
3. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
This trilogy is amazing. It has a lot more to it than the love story, BUT the love story is wonderful.
4. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas
Although this is the second book in the series… this one has the *chefs kiss* love story.
5. The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly
This one is a lot more than the love story, too. It’s great historical fiction and has an awesome female lead.
6. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion
I can’t even explain why I loved this book so much, but I really did. A sort of Romeo & Juliet zombie love story? Yes please.
7. Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore
This ‘League of Extraordinary Women’ series is hilarious and steamy. I would recommend them to anyone who loves sassy women in historical fiction.
What are some of your favorite love stories? Have you read any of these?
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.
