Alright guys, we made it through January. How are we all doing with our resolutions? I’m actually still doing pretty dang good with my personal resolutions. As far as my bookish resolutions go, I haven’t been doing so hot. Oh well, there’s always February to try to improve, right?
Books Read in January (click links for reviews)
My favorite was easily Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. I also read both Veronica Speedwell novels by Deanna Raybourn. I attempted The Mask by Taylor Stevens and learned quickly it wasn’t for me. I also read Unicorn Tracks by Julia Ember, Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton, and Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye (reviews coming up soon).

2017 Bookish Resolutions Check-In:
- “Blog a little less.” I don’t know why, but I’ve been re-inspired to blog. As a result, I’ve been blogging a heck of a lot more.
- “Read more classics!” I have NINE (that’s it!) books in my possession left to read before I’m caught up with my TBR! I’m SO CLOSE! As such, I have been reading through that stack like it’s my job, and haven’t started on classics yet. Once I get caught up I’ll start tackling this resolution.
- “Read more advanced copies.” Well I read one in January and have 3 more in my possession that I will be reading soon. I think I’m doing pretty good with this one.
How are you all doing with your reading resolutions (if you made any)?! What was your favorite book you read in January?
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

I like your resolutions! More classics and more ARCs. You have had a good month too.
Ali
Thank you! I just need to blast through my current TBR pile (less than 9 books left!) and then I’ll be reading classics way more frequently. I’m so excited! There are so many good ones I want to read.

It’s because of your post about Jurassic Park that I went out and got the B&N edition of it recently! I can’t wait to read it 🙂 Happy February!

YAY! I hope you love the book when you do. It’s 100% pure fun, which is always a good thing, right?!
Annie
How many DNFs :O hahaha I loved most of the books I read this month!
Ali
Hahaha, I am trying to DNF more. If I’m not enjoying it there’s no reason for me to keep at it. Reading is supposed to be fun, right?!
Annie
You’re absolutely right! 😀
Maia
Well January has just flown by! Can’t wait to see what you thought of Rebel of the Sands, I’m reading the sequel at the moment 🙂
Ali
I liked it! Review is coming up this week I think. I haven’t decided if I’m going to read the sequel, though, especially after reading some mixed reviews. I hope you are loving it!

The best book I’ve read in January was Gemina! I finally got around to it and OMG SAH GOOD!!! I could barely put it down to go to uni placements. It was a struggle.
Ali
Hahahaha – man those are my favorite books though, when it’s all you can do to focus on the task at hand and NOT think about them! I am so glad you loved it. Those books are so much fun 😀
Kat Impossible
Your instagram pictures are beyond gorgeous! Those editions must have cost a fortune but I am SO JEALOUS!!!
Ali
haha, thanks girl (: they are pretty expensive, but since I don’t have kids at this point in my life I spend my money on my bookish-children 😉
Kat Impossible
Fair enough! I don’t have children either, but I think that might just be beyond my budget still hahaha but ONE DAY! I am going to win the lottery and buy all those editions.

My only reading resolution is to not buy more than 2 books a month, which means I can hopefully save money + whittle down the TBR pile! Nice to hear about you being on track with your goals!
Ali
Yes! That’s a great resolution. I am in a sense doing the same thing (except I allow myself to buy classics…. which really hits the wallet hard, lol) – slowly but surely we’ll get our TBR down only to have it explode again.
