We’re basically halfway done with the year (can you believe it?!), so it’s time to look forward to the second half of 2017 and discuss what books I’m anticipating most.
1. Carnivalesque by Neil Jordan
“Magical storyteller Neil Jordan steps into the realm of fantasy—for fans of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and The Watchmaker of Filigree Street.” A book about changlings and carnivals?! Sign me up!!! This one was released Februrary 2017.
2. Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab
I super enjoyed the first in this duology (This Savage Song), so naturally, I want to see how everything ends! This one is released June 13, 2017.
3. Aftercare Instructions by Bonnie Pipkin
“In the tradition of Jandy Nelson and Rainbow Rowell, a big-hearted journey of furious friendship, crazy love, and unexpected hope after a teen’s decision to end an unwanted pregnancy.” Name drop Jandy Nelson and Rainbow Rowell? Yes, please! This one is released June 27, 2017 (my dad’s birthday!).
4. The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley
A book that takes place in 1859 in India and has a touch of steampunk? YES YES YES. Will be released August 1, 2017.
5. One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake
There were a lot of people who weren’t a fan of the first in this series, Three Dark Crowns, but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next! See my review of the first one here. Releases September 19, 2017.
6. Retribution Rails by Erin Bowman
I learned I loved Westerns when I read Vengeance Road. I am eager to read this one, which takes place in the same world. This will be released November 7, 2017.
What books are you most looking forward to reading in the second half of this year?
This prompt was used from “Top Ten Tuesday,” a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

Yeah, it really sounds fun! I am excited to get to it!

Our Dark Duet is definitely at the top of my list! If she ties up this series as well as she did Shades of Magic, I will be one happy reader.
I hadn’t seen the cover of Retribution Rails yet. I like it just as much as the first!
