Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab is the conclusion to a monster-filled duology. I love the horror genre, so I really enjoyed the first book in the series, This Savage SongOur Dark Duet was one of my most anticipated novels of 2017, and while I enjoyed it on the whole, there were a few minor things that didn’t quite add up for me.

THE WORLD IS BREAKING. AND SO ARE THEY.

KATE HARKER isn't afraid of monsters. She hunts them. And she's good at it.

AUGUST FLYNN once yearned to be human. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.

THE WAR HAS BEGUN.

THE MONSTERS ARE WINNING.

Kate will have to return to Verity. August will have to let her back in. And a new monster is waiting—one that feeds on chaos and brings out its victims' inner demons.

Which will be harder to conquer: the monsters they face, or the monsters within?

What I liked:

1. THE MONSTERS!! Hands down this will always be my favorite part of this series. I just love the monsters that Schwab created. I love how they’re created, what they do, and why they do it. They are some of the coolest things I’ve come across in fiction in a really long time.

2. The cities, Verity and Prosperity. Going along with the monsters, I love the run-down, corrupt world that these people and monsters live in. Schwab did such an awesome job crafting these bleak, amoral societies. They’re delicious to read about!

3. The potential of the Chaos Eater, the new monster in this series. It was creepy AF, and I loved the anticipation of what we were going to find out about it. Where did it come from? What does it do? How do we defeat it?!? View Spoiler »

Ultimately I enjoyed the book quite a bit. The ending wasn’t quite what I hoped for, so when I finished, instead of feeling all these flurry of emotions like I would want, I kind of shrugged and was like, okay, that was a fun book.
