There is NOTHING that makes me happier than books that live up to the hype. I mean, wouldn’t you love it if EVERY book you read was amazing!? I sure would. Here are a few popular books that lived up to their hype for me.
1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
2. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
3. The Martian by Andy Weir
4. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
5. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
6. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
7. The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
8. I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
9. A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman
10. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

Agreed! Read all but one. Many excellent memories. What amazes me is how looking at a book and recalling when you read it brings you right back to your life at that time you read it, good, bad or indifferent!

Well, I probably would have read The Fault in Our Stars anyway since I already liked John Green, but I definitely checked out A Darker Shade of Magic after hearing so much love for it and omg, that book – and the series as a whole!! Another blogger hyped book that I read and loved was Dangerous Girls.

Ooooh I haven’t heard of that one – I’m going to check it out!

The Time Traveler’s Wife has been sitting on my shelf for *years* and I still haven’t picked it up. For some reason, I find it a bit intimidating – like the premise is going to be way too confusing to follow.
I definitely have the unpopular opinion when it comes to I’ll Give You the Sun. That’s one that really did *not* live up to the hype for me. I learned quickly that me + Jandy Nelson’s writing do not mix.

I could totally see that IGYTS would be tough if someone doesn’t like the writing. My friend was the same with that one. The only reason I would not recommend the Time Traveler’s Wife is because it’s a tear-jerker – GUARD YOUR HEART AND STAY AWAY XD

Interesting list 🙂
I guess for me it’s Children of Blood and Bone.

Ooooh I need to read that one, but I’m honestly intimidated BECAUSE the hype is so immense. I think I’m going to let things quiet down and then maybe give it a try?!
