Are you a seasonal reader? I am sometimes (mainly during Halloween), but it is fun to try to tailor books to the season. I suppose it makes them more immersive, you know? Anyway, here are the books on my winter TBR (aka the books that are simply on my to-read list…).
1. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I haven’t read this one yet, so I’m excited to read it this holiday season! (Confession: It will be my first Dickens!)
2. The Once and Future King by T.H. White
I am very excited to read this one! This has been on my TBR for a long time, and recently Audible had a sale that included this novel, so I got it!
3. The King of Bones and Ashes by J.D. Horn
I received this book from Netgalley, so I’ll be reading this one before it’s released in January. It’s about witches and takes place in New Orleans! Sounds fun.
4. The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
Another one from Netgalley that I need to read before it’s released in January. This is a dark, low-fantasy, young adult novel and is already getting LOADS of hype!
5. Iron Gold by Pierce Brown
DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN WHY THIS BOOK IS ON MY TBR?! It comes out JANUARY 18!!! (See why you need to read this series here.)
6. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
I’ve been wanting to re-read this series, so I promised myself I could do it over the holidays when I’m on vacation as a gift to myself. I CAN’T WAIT!
What books are you planning on reading this winter?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish!
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

The Once and Future King! I’ve always wanted to read that. And The Hazel Wood looks fabulous too, I’ve already seen at least one good review for it. Enjoy!!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC for The Hazel Wood and I can’t wait to read it!
The Harry Potter series always feels wintry/Christmassy to me so I like to reread it in December!
Ali
Yes, it’s SUCH a wintertime/Christmas series. Especially the first few! I hope we both like The Hazel Wood as much as everyone else seems too! *fingers crossed*

Once and Future King has been on my TBR for ages because I’ve always wanted to learn more about the King Arthur legend. Plus Maggie Stiefvater recommended it a few years ago
