For today’s top ten Tuesday, I’m talking about 10 books that I can’t wait to read in 2017. Some of them are new releases, and some of them have just been on my to-read list forever.
2017 Releases I am Anticipating:
- I seriously cannot wait for A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab (coming out February 21). This is the final book in the Shades of Magic trilogy and I have super high expectations for this one! See my review of the first novel, A Darker Shade of Magic, and the second novel, A Gathering of Shadows, by clicking on their links!
- Caraval has been getting some intense hype for a long time. People are saying it has some similarities to The Night Circus, and I am so excited for this one to come out at the end of January!
- Another VE Schwab book, Our Dark Duet, sequel to This Savage Song (click link to see my review) is coming out in June, and it’s probably my most anticipated young adult release of 2017.
- A Closed and Common Orbit is a sort-of sequel (I say sort of because it is in the same world but follows peripheral characters) to one of my favorite books of 2016: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. The e-book is already out, but the physical copy doesn’t come out until March of next year, so I’m waiting for that one.
Already-Released Books I Can’t Wait to Get To:
- I have heard nothing but amazing things about the Wolf by Wolf duology, and I can’t wait to read it next year!
- I read A Court of Thorns and Roses and totally loved it. I’ve heard I’m going to love A Court of Mist and Fury even more.
- Dark Matter got a ton of hype this year, and it’s even being made into a movie. I recently purchased the audiobook, which I expect to be pretty entertaining.
- Vengeance Road is a young adult, western novel. I’ve never read a Western, and people seemed to really like this one when it came out this year. Sounds like so much fun and the cover is so perfect, I can’t wait to jump in!
- I have been told not to judge a book by its cover with The Winter King. One blogger I follow gave this book such a glowing review I had to had it to my to-read list RIGHT AWAY. I’m thinking of taking this one with me on my upcoming trip. Seems like perfect airplane reading!
- The people that enjoy Nevernight really freaking love it. There are also some less glowing reviews, but I am eager to try this one out for myself to see if I enjoy it. Apparently there’s a cat. Need I say more?
What books are you looking forward to reading in 2017?
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

I’m so excited for Our Dark Duet. I read Caraval recently and it was SO good, totally worth all the hype! 🙂 You NEED to read ACOMAF as soon as possible, too. Again, it’s so hyped up, but so good!
Ali
I hope I like Caraval as much as everyone else is seeming to! I can’t wait for ACOMAF 😀

YAY!!! I am so in with the 2017 releases!!! Except for the first one which I haven’t read any of that series and don’t know if I’ll ever will (I haven’t actually read anything from Victoria Schwab but I really want to read the This Savage Song duology!) but other wise YAY!!!
Also for the already released ones, I’ve also heard such good things about the Wolf for Wolf duology that I don’t know how long I’ll be able to wait!! Plus Nevernight and Dark Matter are also on my TBR!! The buzz for these has been undeniable!!
Ali
Hahaha, looks like we might be reading some of the same things in 2017 😀
Annie
I hope you enjoy Dark Matter <3 It's amazing!
Ali
Yes! I am excited! I think the audiobook will be good.

I have the Schwab book on my TBR as well. And yes to Becky Chambers. I thought it was already released. You must read Dark Matter
Ali
The Chambers book is out as an e-reader, but the physical copy isn’t (at least in the States) out until next year for some reason. So I’m counting that one as a next year release 😀

Hope you get it soon. 🙂

Most of all, I cannot wait for Iron Gold by Pierce Brown and Serpent’s Mirror by Deborah Harkness that will be released summer 2017.
Also, there are some completed series that has been on my TBR forever (Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, The Book of the New Sun, The Broken Empire) so I plan to read them in 2017 as well.
And I am curious what you will think about Dark Matter. It was very interesting books but I have very mixed feelings about it.
Ali
Oooh I will be curious to see what I think about it, too!!
And WHOA WHOA WHOA – what’s this about Serpent’s Mirror?!? Is this a brand new series by her? I didn’t know about it! I LOVED her ADOW trilogy.
Also SUPER excited about Iron Gold!!
Lucia @Reading Is My Breathing
Serpent’s Mirror is more like prequel/spin-off I think, which means more Matthew 🙂 I cannot wait! I love her ADOW trilogy as well, I re-read it religiously every year 🙂
Maria Casacalenda (Big City Bookworm)
I cannot wait for you to read Dark Matter! I loved it and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I also cannot wait for Our Dark Duet and A Conjuring Of Light!!!!
