A good vacation book is fast-paced, keeps me interested in the story despite my awesome surroundings, and usually is a pretty long read (because vacations mean we have a lot of time to devote to reading, duh!) . I’ve compiled a list of a few of my favorite books I’ve taken on vacation (or wish I had). Feel free to chime in with yours!
1. The A Court of Thorns and Roses Series
I just read ACOMAF on a vacation, and it was hands down the BEST DECISION I’VE EVER MADE.
2. The Red Rising Trilogy
Ummmmm YES. This series is a dynamite vacation choice. See why you should read the series here.
3. The All Souls Trilogy
If you like fantasy, witches, vampires, and/or magic, then this series is FOR YOU. These books are long and super duper gripping, so they are 100% a perfect choice for a vacation.
4. Ready Player One
A stand-alone, but a damn good one. This is a perfect vacation page-turner if I’ve ever read one!
5. Pillars of the Earth
This is actually the first in a series, but since I didn’t finish the trilogy (I only read this one and the next one), I felt like I shouldn’t include the entire trilogy. That being said, this book and it’s sequel, World Without End, were SO GOOD. OMG! This was an Oprah’s Book Club pick back in the day, and I can totally see why. It’s fantastic medieval historical fiction. Reads like a freaking soap!
What are some of your favorite vacation reads?
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

I am asking myself how come I haven’t heard about the All Souls Trilogy until some months ago… Because it sounds right up of my alley!! 😊
I actually haven’t read any of those yet but I think they are good choices!! 😜

Haha, well the finale came out in 2014, so it’s a few years old. That might be why? But it’s a fantastic read – you should definitely consider it if you like that sort of stuff!

I love Ready Player One! I listened to the audio of it, but would totally take the print version on vacay with me.

Yess! Such a good vacation book, because it’s so fast-paced!

I’ve only read ACOTAR and ACOMAF on this list! Definitely great vacation reads (and by vacation, I mean stay inside and binge read it cover to cover hahaha).
Red Rising and Ready Player One are books I want to try to get to sooner rather than later

I really really really wish I was going on vacation now especially since I just got a kindle and I feel like that’s a perfect kind device. I have abandoned trying to like the Throne of Glass series but I am really interested in perhaps reading ACOTAR. What do you think? Also A Discover of Witches is now added to my tbr. I read Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman on vacation last year and really enjoyed myself!
Ali
I would say YES to ACOTAR – at least give it a try! I read the second one on vacation and it was PERFECT! And the Kindle is totally the perfect vacation tool!!
