WHEW! April was a writing whirlwind for me, guys. I wrote almost 50K in my novel and I am basically done with it (I can’t believe it!). I only hoped to write 20K, but I got a little ahead of myself. Anyway, now I’m on to editng and tweaking. While I know that you probably don’t care much about my writing, this is semi-relevant because it means I’m going to be blogging a lot less. I’ll still have a post here and there, but it likely will be at a decreased frequency! Anyway, read on to see my blog wrap-up for April. And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram if you want to see what I’m up to more regularly!
One Classic and One ARC Per Month
Part of my blogging resolutions is to read a classic and advanced readers copy each month.
Classic: The Merry Adventures of Robin HoodI attemped by Howard Pyle… and I hated it, so I DNF’d it.
ARC: I finally finished (and enjoyed) The Seven 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. I also read Legendary by Stephanie Garber. It’s the sequel to Caraval.
Links I Loved
- Myrth over at Cliste Bella discussed “mood reading,” and about readers who read things based on a schedule and those who read based on mood. Where do you fall?
- On The Misstery, Annie gave 4 TV show recommendations for crime fans. Definitely check it out if you consider yourself a fan of crime fiction!
- Marta, from The Cursed Books, nominated a bunch of different bloggers for various things. She kindly nominated me in the book reviewer category (!!!), so I felt like I had to share it for that reason. BUT I also thought this would be a great way to find other bloggers if you’re looking for more!

A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.
