August. I swear it’s the most disappointing month of the year for me. By this point in the summer I am completely over the heat, yet the triple digits are unrelenting. The days are getting shorter, so I feel like fall is around the corner, but it’s definitely not. The good thing that happened this month is that I went on a tour of the Southwestern US! I saw several national parks, and was surprised by how much I actually loved it! Hooray for doing new things!
One Classic and One ARC Per Month
It’s a personal goal to read a classic and advanced readers copy each month. This month I hit my goal, yay! I loved ALL of these books!
Classic:Ā A Picture of Dorian GrayĀ by Oscar Wilde andĀ Black Beauty by Anne Sewell
ARC:Ā Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff (umm, this book was amazing btw. Keep an eye out for my review next week!)

How was August for you? What was your favorite book you read?
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

August was honestly a bit of a blur for me! Started with me having to work on my favourite summer holiday, so I think maybe I just didn’t ever feel like it was truly August? (the holiday is the first wednesday of the month)
I did some good reading, though! And got some fun book boxes š And took in a great music festival. And ate some yummy food. So all in all, a good month… I just kind of feel like it was July only yesterday and wtf is it actually September now?!
Ali
Hahahaha right?! I feel the same about where the time went – I’m okay with it though, summer here NEEDS to end. Today it’s supposed to be 110F (43C) WAHHHHHHHHH. I am over this BS!
Maggie
GOOD GRIEF. I would literally die.

I wish you could have sent some of that weather my way! We barely had any hot days. I’m not ready for fall, haha. I loved seeing your vacation pictures. š My favorite was my reread of Assassin’s Apprentice. It was so much better the second time.

So often rereads make me like a book even more!
