It’s been about a month since I updated y’all with the books I’m reading, so I figured I would do that for ya today! It’s probably good it’s been a month, because I can’t say I’ve been doing that much reading. Since I’ve been frantically cleaning up my novel in preparation for beta-readers, I haven’t had much time to do any leisure reading. But that’s okay! I’m back at my reading game now!
What I Just Finished Reading:
My physical book was Throne of Glass, which took me a RIDICULOUS amount of time. I am glad that I have finished it and am FINALLY on the Throne of Glass series wagon! I also just finished a few of the Arabian Nights stories (not all of them!) on audiobook. My own novel is an Aladdin and the Magic Lamp retelling, so I figured I’d read some of the other stories and draw some more inspiration for possible sequels.
What I’m Reading Now:
I am frantically trying to finish Furyborn before its release on May 22, but I’m betting that doesn’t happen. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this story! On audio I’m listening to Thunderhead. I listened to Scythe a while back (the first in the series) and really enjoyed it (for some reason I never wrote a review? Sorry about that…), so I’m excited to listen to the next one!
What I’m Reading Next
I haven’t really ever read Lord of the Flies (I mean, I was supposed to for some classes, but I didn’t do it because I was a lame child) so I feel like I need to read it now. That’s going to be my “June classic” that I read (…and by read, I mean listen to). And then, of course, I need to read A Court of Frost and Starlight, because it sounds like it’s going to be just a fun re-visit to Feyre and Rhysand. My expectations are pretty low – I just want to say hi to my fictional friends! I’m not expecting much in the way of plot for this novella.
Tell me, what are you reading right now? Or, what did you just finish? Have you read any of these books?
A.S. Thornton has evolved from book blogger to author with a particular fondness for writing forbidden love in ancient deserts. When not writing, she’s caring for dogs and cats as a veterinarian. You’ll never find animals at the center of her writing, though, because those fictional worlds don’t have veterinarians and her literal brain can’t accept that the poor critters would be without parasite prevention. Thornton’s debut, DAUGHTER OF THE SALT KING is available wherever books are sold.

Lord of the Flies is a good classic to read– not overly long or difficult but pretty intriguing 🙂

I’m excited! I’m just glad it’s not too long (:

Oh, I didn’t realize your book was a retelling of Aladdin. How cool! I still need to read Thunderhead but I LOVED Scythe. I read Lord of the Flies in high school, so it’s been a little while now. hah I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Lauren! (: Thunderhead is fun so far – I’m almost done, so hopefully it’s got a great ending.

I picked up a book off our shelf copyrighted in 1905 (but this edition is dated in the 1920’s) by Arthur Conan Doyle. Can you guess what the stories are about? There’s a PBS series starring hottie Benedict Cumberbach based on the stories. Fun holding and smelling all the history and I wonder whose hands held it before mine.

That’s an old book! Hope you enjoy it (I’m guessing Sherlock Holmes, perhaps??) (:
